Programs
At Oceanside English Academy, we run the following programs year-round:
- Full Time Interactive English Immersion (26+ hours per week)
- Part Time Interactive English Immersion (15 hours per week)
- Evenings-Only Practical English Classes (3 hours per week)
New students are welcome to begin our regular programs each week, beginning on Mondays. The average study period is 3-6 months, however students have come to our school for as little as 1 week.
Classes are small, with an average of 4-6 students in each. This makes it possible for each student to have personalized attention, and practice, practice, practice.
In addition to our ongoing programs above, our special programs include:
- The Canadian Winter Experience Program (from January to February 2012)
- The Canadian Summer Experience Program (from June to September 2012)

FULL TIME INTERACTIVE ENGLISH IMMERSION (26+ hours/week)
Our Full Time Intensive and Interactive English Immersion program takes place from approximately 9-330 pm each day.
Throughout each day, we will cover reading, writing, speaking and listening skill development. In addition, OEA’s teaching includes special topics, debates, community activities and real-life scenarios requiring interaction with native speakers.
Friday afternoons are activity based, and take place outside of the classroom in the community.

Tuition Cost:
$125 Registration Fee (non-refundable)
$345/week (includes material and activity fee)
- 5 – 11 weeks = 5% discount
- 12+ weeks = 10% discount

PART TIME INTERACTIVE ENGLISH IMMERSION (15 hours/week)
Do you want to improve your English for travel, hobby, employment, inter-cultural communication or just make the most of your time in Canada?
We’ve designed the Part Time Immersion Program at OEA for you. This program takes place from approximately 9-12 pm each day.
Mornings only, the program covers all aspects of English, including reading, writing, speaking and listening skill development with an emphasis on interactive communication. Class sizes are kept small, so that we can take special care of you.
You can be a beginner or advanced, or somewhere in between, and we will make sure you get the help you need.
Afternoons are free for you to explore the Comox Valley, participate in community groups, travel or perhaps even find work, as several students have done in the past. (This will depend on your Visa status.)

EVENINGS-ONLY PRACTICAL ENGLISH CLASSES (3 hours/week)
Do you want to improve your English quickly in a fun, relaxed and affordable class in Courtenay?
Whether it’s your pronunciation, reading ability, or ability to express complex topics to native speakers, we have designed this practical English class for you.
Our Evening classes take place from 730-9pm on Tuesday and Thursday evenings each week.
Class size will remain small, allowing the class to be customized to your needs. We can help you:
- find work, make friends locally, achieve other goals
All classes will require interaction, so come prepared to practice and be challenged!

THE GREAT CANADIAN WINTER EXPERIENCE (avail Jan/Feb 2012)
Canada is world renowned for our winters – skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, tubing, and more!
Enjoy winter the way real Canadians do!
Oceanside English combines intensive English study with our winter Activity Program. Our philosophy is that you learn English best by speaking with native English speakers.
What better way to do that then by spending time on the slopes surrounded by native English speakers? Learn English – have fun!

THE GREAT CANADIAN SUMMER EXPERIENCE (avail June to Sept. 2012)
We’re proud of our academic programs and home stay experience but we know a big reason people come to Canada is to experience the best that nature has to offer. Some of our most popular daily activities include paddle boarding, kayaking, swimming, caving, whale watching, day trip to Hornby Island and day trip to Victoria. Our activities and excursions are guided by our enthusiastic and responsible team of instructors and activity leaders who are experts at highlighting all the local places of interest. Learn English, experience Canada, build confidence, and have fun!
